About Calvary Irvine
We believe in, worship and serve the Triune God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, three Who are One.
Calvary Chapel Irvine is a fellowship of believers dedicated to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We acknowledge the need to repent of sin, and to be born again by the Holy Spirit of God, into new life. (John 3:3) Only Jesus can offer this new life, through the shedding of blood in His atoning death for man on Calvary's cross and His bodily resurrection from the dead. (John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15:1-5) We believe that this free gift of salvation and new life is offered to all who will call upon His name by faith. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, not depending on our works, but on His completed work for us. (Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 10:9,10)
We believe that worship is essential to true Christian faith. Our ministry functions are committed to promoting Worship of God in Spirit and in Truth. (John 4:23-24; Philippians 3:3) Our prayer, music and ministering concentrate upon the Greatness of God to inspire and elevate our lives and thoughts in humble adoration of Him.
We believe that fellowship is an essential and rich part of Christian life and therefore encourage each believer into a rich and full body life through building sound personal relationships within the church. We believe that every believer has been given a spiritual gift or gifts which contribute to the corporate health and vitality of the church. (1 John 1:1-3; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 12)
We believe that the Holy Spirit is working today, convicting of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. The Holy Spirit also indwells the believer guiding them into all truth and conforming them to the likeness of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit enables and empowers every believer through spiritual gifts (Romans 12:1-8; Corinthians 12:1-11, 28-31; Ephesians 4; 1 Peter 4; Romans 12) that we might more effectively and fruitfully serve Him together for the benefit of the entire body. As a result, we are open to His leading and guiding in the ministry of the Church and believe that being filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) is essential for every believer's walk, every Christian relationship and every Christian ministry. |
